Individual Therapy
Individual psychotherapy is a joint process between yourself and your therapist. Yet at the same time it is a journey from you in the present into the past and future.
The common goal in therapy is to develop and evolve who and where you are currently that improves your quality of life. Therapy is not so black and white as making everything better and advice seeking, in fact it is about learning tools/skills to help you in everyday life, foster positive change, develop a more robust understanding of yourself, address mental health concerns, overcoming concerns in day-to-day life.
Individual therapy can help all walks of life even those that resist and do not believe in the benefits.
About my approach to Individual Therapy.
One on One when opening up and talking about concerns can feel overwhelming, especially with someone you don’t have a secure bond/rapport with. I try to ensure that our time together feels natural, like speaking to a sibling, friend, partner, family member. Of course throughout our time it is to develop that familiarity, but still with the understanding the purpose and that is to help you achieve your therapy goals.
I come from a person-centered approach meaning I like to have you steer the ship in whichever direction you want. I believe that being of one mind leads to rigid beliefs and thinking, so I attempt to take all information being told to me from different perspectives so it is more than just someone who is solution-focused or emotion-focused. I believe in being multifaceted that can allow for the most growth within our sessions.
During our time together, we will have hard conversations, but share a laugh with one another. The goal of individual therapy is for you to be able to move forward on your own and I will be there with you proving tools and strategies as opportunities arise for you to utilize them.
